Important Information

Best Time to Visit

The best season for Spiti Valley is June to September. During these months the Manali road opens and weather is pleasant (10°C–20°C in Kaza). Extreme winter outside this period makes it accessible only via Shimla under hazardous snow conditions.

Packing Essentials

Spiti is a high-altitude cold desert (9,000–14,000 ft). Pack thermal layers, fleece & down jackets, trekking shoes, high-SPF sunscreen, sunglasses, lip balm, personal medication, Diamox (altitude sickness), and BSNL/Airtel SIM cards.

Visa & Permit Information

Indian Citizens: No ILP needed — valid govt ID mandatory at checkposts. Foreign Nationals: Inner Line Permits (ILP) are mandatory near Nako/Gue/Tabo. Happily Innovative Travels coordinates ILP procurement at Kaza/Shimla desk.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

30+ days before departure: 15% fee. 15–29 days: 50% fee. 7–14 days: 75% fee. 0–6 days: 100% (no refund). Full credit transfer on roadblock/landslide closures.

Frequently Asked Questions

Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) happens when you ascend to high altitudes too quickly. To prevent it, we follow a gradual acclimatisation route (staying in Shimla and Sangla first before Kaza). Keep hydrated, avoid strenuous physical activities on Day 1-3, avoid alcohol/smoking, and carry Diamox tablets (taken under medical advice).

Card payments and digital wallets (UPI) are highly unreliable in Spiti Valley due to poor network connectivity. While there is an ATM in Kaza, it is frequently out of cash or service. We strongly advise carrying sufficient physical cash (at least ₹10,000 per person) from Shimla/Manali.

We prioritize offering cozy, warm, and authentic mountain homestays hosted by local Spitian families. This provides a deep cultural connection and keeps you warm in insulated rooms. In Chandratal, we provide luxury alpine tents with attached toilets and insulated bedding.
